Ruehl to Star in Woman Before a Glass Off-Broadway

Mercedes Ruehl will star in the upcoming world premiere production of Lanie Robertson’s Woman Before a Glass. Directed by Casey Childs, the play will open Off Broadway on Thursday, March 10 at the Promenade Theatre, (2162 Broadway at 76th Street). Preview performances will begin on Thursday, February 17.


Ruehl will play Peggy Guggenheim, a real-life figure who supported and loved some of the greatest artists of the 20th Century. Woman Before a Glass follows the triumphs and disappointments of this Grande Dame of the art world as she assembles a collection that includes major works by Klee, Pollack, Ernst, Miro, Chagall, DeKooning, Dali, Leger, Picasso, Duchamp, Braque, Rothko, Motherwell, and Man Ray, among many others.
