Keith Hamilton Cobb to Star in Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s Othello; 2011 Season Announced

Keith Hamilton Cobb — best known for his TV roles in Andromeda, All My Children, and The Young and the Restless — will star in the title role of Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello, presented by Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey on its Main Stage, the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, September 7-October 2. Bonnie J. Monte will direct.

The company has also announced the other productions that will comprise its 49th anniversary season, which has the theme ‘Follow the Gleam’ borrowed from a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson.

The season will begin with a Main Stage production of Moliere’s The Misanthrope (June 1-16), directed by Bonnie J. Monte. The company’s annual Outdoor Stage production at the Greek amphitheater at the College of St. Elizabeth in Morris Township, will be Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (June 22-July 31), directed by Cameron Watson. Back on the Main Stage, the Shakespeare Theatre will present Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens (July 6-24), directed by Brian B. Crowe. It will be followed by Noël Coward’s Fallen Angels (August 3-28).

Following the production of Othello will be Christopher Sergel’s stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird (October 12-November 20), directed by Joe Discher. The season will close with Neil Bartlett’s A Christmas Carol from the novel by Charles Dickens, and directed by Bonnie J. Monte, December 1-January 1.
