Guthrie Announces Full 2008-2009 Season

The Guthrie Theater has announced its full 2008-2009 season.

As previously announced, the Guthrie will present the world premiere of the musical Little House on the Prairie, directed by Francesca Zambello (July 26-October 5), and three works by Tony Kushner: a newly commissioned work The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures (May 9-June 28, 2009); the musical Caroline, or Change (April 18-June 21, 2009), and a collection of Kushner’s short plays (May 16-June 7, 2009).

Among the other works to be presented on the Wurtle Thrust Stage will be Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge (September 13-November 9); Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona (January 24-March 28, 2009); and J.B, Priestley’s When We Are Married (July 4-August 30, 2009).

The McGuire Proscenium Stage will also host William Nicholson’s Shadowlands, (November 1-December 21); Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance (January 10-March 1, 2009), and Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun (March 14-April 12, 2009).

On the Dowling Stage, selections include Jon Marans’ Old Wicked Songs (September 12-October 5); Harold Pinter’s The Caretaker (October 11-November 2); David Harrower’s Blackbird (November 6-30); Shakespeare’s Henry V (January 10-February 1, 2009); and Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days (February 14-March 8, 2009).
