Adrienne Arsht Center to Host 10th Anniversary of Teo Castellanos’ NE 2nd Avenue

Adrienne Arsht Center will present a 10th anniversary celebration of NE 2nd Avenue, the one-man play created and performed by Teo Castellanos, with a weekend of performances at the Carnival Studio Theater in Miami, January 19-21.

The play depicts the lives of a Puerto Rican small time drug dealer, a deprived African-American young lady, a Haitian jitney driver, a Cuban-Jewish grandfather, a Rasta Man, an African American adolescent trying to find his footing in life, a Cuban rafter and a gay man, who each take the audience on a memorable journey through the intense streets of Miami.

Castellanos is the Founder and Artistic Director of Teo Castellanos D-Projects and a coach for the Tigertail Productions Spoken Word Team, which competes annually at Youth Speaks’s Brave New Voices competition. In addition to NE 2nd Avenue, Castellanos is the author of the one-man trilogy War, Revolution, and the Projects. His most recent D-Projects work, Fat Boy begins touring in February, 2012.
