Grantham Coleman, Elvy Yost to Star in Actors Theatre of Louisville Romeo and Juliet

The cast and creative team for the Actors Theatre of Louisville‘s production of Romeo and Juliet has been announced.This energetic, contemporary retelling of a classic love story will run September 6-24 in the Pamela Brown Auditorium.

Romeo and Juliet, a tale of two star-crossed lovers from bitterly feuding families who risk everything to be together, as a new generation strains against the limits of a world their parents have defined, will be under the direction of Louisville native and Drama Desk nominee Tony Speciale.

The cast features Juilliard School graduate Grantham Coleman as Romeo and Elvy Yost as Juliet. Additional cast members include Brendan Averett as Friar Laurence, Matt Citron as Escalus, Jordan Dean as Tybalt, Ben Diskant as Benvolio, Nate Miller as Mercutio, Raynaldo Piniella as Balthasar, and Matthew Stucky as Paris. The production will also star Bruce McKenzie and Amy Morse as Lord and Lady Capulet, Myra Lucretia Taylor as the Nurse, and Yvette Ganier as Lady Montague.

The creative team includes Daniel Zimmerman (scenic designer), Michael Krass (costume designer), Matthew Richards (lighting designer), Christian Frederickson (sound designer), Philip Allgeier (media designer) and Mark Walston (properties master).
