Antonio Banderas to Star in and Direct New Film Solo

Antonio Banderas will star in and direct the psychological thriller Solo, according to a report in Variety.
The film, which has a screenplay by Erik Jendresen, focuses on a Spanish colonel (Banderas) suffering post-conflict trauma. The movie will be filmed in Spain and is slated for a 2012 release.
Banderas is scheduled to return to Broadway in Zorba!. He starred on Broadway in Nine, receiving a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award. Among his many film credits are Evita, Shrek 2, The Mask of Zorro, And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself, and The House of the Spirits.
