Singer/pianist Michael Feinstein will succeed the late Marvin Hamlisch as the principal conductor of the Pasadena Pops beginning in 2013, according to published reports.

Feinstein, a five-time Grammy-nominated recording artist, is best known for his PBS series Michael Feinstein’s American Songbook. He has appeared on Broadway in a series of self-titled concerts, as well as alongside Dame Edna in All About Me. Feinstein currently serves as artistic director of Carmel, Indiana’s Center for the Performing Arts.

As previously reported, Hamlisch, who served as the Pops’ principal conductor since 2011, died at the age of 68 on August 7 following a brief illness.
