Reprise Theatre Company to Present Cabaret, The Baker’s Wife During 2011-2012 Season

Reprise Theatre Company has announced two of its three productions to be presented during its 2011-2012 season. All performances take place at the Freud Playhouse.

The season will begin with the musical Cabaret (September 13-25), featuring music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff. The plot revolves around Sally Bowles, a cabaret performer in the seedy Kit Kat Club, Cliff Bradshaw, the young American writer she becomes involved with, and the characters of the edgy, threatening world they inhabit.

Next up will be the Stephen Schwartz-Joseph Stein musical The Baker’s Wife (February 14-26). It tells the story of a small Provencal town that at last finds peace and contentment in the heavenly bread of the newly arrived baker and his attractive, but much younger wife. When the baker’s wife is lured away by the attentions of a handsome young man, the middle-aged baker loses all zest for life and baking, throwing the community into chaos.

A third production, to run April 17-29 will be announced at a later date, as will cast and creative team information for all productions.
