Audra McDonald to Depart ABC’s Private Practice

Audra McDonald will leave ABC’s Private Practice at the end of Season 4 in order to spend more time with her family, according to a report on TVGuide.com.


On the series, McDonald plays Naomi, a fertility specialist and founding partner of the Los Angeles-based wellness center. McDonald may return to the series in future seasons as a guest star.

McDonald won Tony Awards for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, and A Raisin in the Sun. In addition, she received Tony Award nominations for her work in Marie Christine and 110 in the Shade. She will perform later this spring at Carnegie Hall.

The actress had as a daughter, Zoe, who will turn 10 this month, from her former marriage, and she is romantically involved with fellow stage star Will Swenson.
