Stage veterans Andrew Garfield and Jennifer Garner and Tony Award winner Marcia Gay Harden will star in a film adaptation of Tawni O’Dell’s novel Back Roads, according to a report in Variety. Adrian Lyne will direct the movie, which he has co-written with O’Dell.
The film is a murder mystery set in Pennsylvania that looks at a young man (Garfield) who is forced to care for his three younger sisters after their mother is sent to prison for killing her abusive husband.
Garner is scheduled to play a family neighbor who becomes romantically linked with Garfield’s character, and Harden will play his court-appointed therapist.
