Glenn Close, Neil Patrick Harris, Meryl Streep, et al. Among Satellite Award Nominees

The International Press Academy has announced the nominations for its 16th annual Satellite Awards, which will be held on Sunday, December 18 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Awards will be presented in over 30 categories.


Nominated film actors include stage veterans Kenneth Branagh, Jessica Chastain, Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Vera Farmiga, Judy Greer, Woody Harrleson, Janet McTeer, Carey Mulligan, Christopher Plummer, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael Shannon, Octavia Spencer, Meryl Streep, Hugo Weaving, and Michelle Williams.


Nominated television actors include stage veterans Ty Burrell, Claire Danes, Peter Dinklage, Mireille Enos, Laurence Fishburne, Neil Patrick Harris, Felicity Huffman, William Hurt, Diane Lane, Laura Linney, William H. Macy, Julianna Margulies, Margo Martindale, Bill Nighy, Martha Plimpton, Timothy Olyphant, Wendell Pierce, Maggie Smith, Sofia Vergara, Rachel Weisz, and Vanessa Williams.


In addition to its competitive awards, the IPA will honor Mitzi Gaynor with its Mary Pickford Award; The Help will be awarded best motion picture ensemble; and Jessica Lange will receive a special award for outstanding performance in a TV series for American Horror Story.
