Stage performers nominated for their work in primetime television include Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Claire Danes (Homeland), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) David Duchovny (Californication), Mireile Enos (The Killing), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Romola Garai (The Hour), Paul Giamatti (Too Big to Fail), Kelsey Grammer (Boss), William Hurt (Too Big to Fail), Diane Lane (Cinema Verite), Jessica Lange (American Horror Story), Laura Linney (The Big C), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Bill Nighy (Page Eight), Tim Robbins (Cinema Verite), Maggie Smith (Dowtown Abbey), Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), and Dominic West (The Hour).

Glenn Close and songwriter Brian Byrne received a Best Song nomination for "Lay Down Your Head" from Albert Nobbs; Elton John received a Best Song nomination for "Hello Hello" from Gnomeo & Juliet; and Madonna received a Best Song nomination for "Masterpiece" from W.E., which she directed

Stage and screen star Morgan Freeman will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
