Bea Arthur, Larry Gelbart, et al. Join TV Academy Hall of Fame

Tony Award winners Beatrice Arthur and Larry Gelbart are among the recent inductees to the Television Academy's Hall of Fame, an honor to be formally presented at a ceremony in Beverly Hills, December 9, according to the Associated Press.

Other inductees include the late talk show host and producer Merv Griffin, writer-producer Sherwood Schwartz, and former Capital Cities/ABC executives Thomas Murphy and Daniel B. Burke.

Arthur won a Tony Award for Mame, and her other Broadway credits include Threepenny Opera, The Floating Light Bulb, Bea Arthur on Broadway, and Fiddler on the Roof. She is well known for her roles on the television series Maude and The Golden Girls, both of which earned her Emmy Awards.

Gelbart won Tony Awards for his books for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and City of Angels. His other stage credits include Mastergate and Sly Fox, and his many film and TV credits include the screenplays for Tootsie, and M*A*S*H.
