The Iron Lady, starring Meryl Streep, to Receive Limited December 30 Release

The Weinstein Company will release The Iron Lady, which stars Meryl Streep as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, to select cities on December 30, according to a report on Deadline.com. Phyllida Lloyd has directed the project, which has a screenplay by Abi Morgan. The film is slated for a broader release in January 2012.

The movie is a biography of the woman who was British Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990. The cast also features Jim Broadbent as Jim Thatcher. The younger incarnations of the Thatchers will be played by Alexandra Roach and Harry Lloyd. Also in the cast are Olivia Colman, Susan Brown, Roger Allam, Anthony Head, Julian Wadham, Nick Dunning, Richard E Grant, and David Westhead.
