Jane Carr Joins Los Angeles Company of Mary Poppins

Jane Carr will join the Los Angeles cast of Mary Poppins as of November 20, playing the role that she has played on Broadway for three years, Mrs. Brill, the harried cook and housekeeper in the Banks household. Mary Poppins continues at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre through February 7.

The production also features original Broadway stars, Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee, who are reprising their roles as Mary Poppins and Bert, respectively, alongside Karl Kenzler (George Banks), Megan Osterhaus (Winifred Banks), Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Robertson Ay), Ellen Harvey (Miss Andrew), Mary VanArsdel (The Bird Woman), and Mike O’Carroll (Admiral Boom). Katie Balen and Bailey Grey alternate in the role of Jane Banks while Bryce Baldwin and Carter Thomas alternate in the role of Michael Banks.

The company also includes Tia Altinay, Carol Angeli, Gail Bennett, Kiara Bennett, Brandon Bieber, Troy Edward Bowles, Elizabeth Broadhurst, Michael Gerhart, Geoffrey Goldberg, Emily Harvey, Tiffany Howard, Kelly Jacobs, Wendy James, Justin Keyes, Sam Kiernan, Brian Letendre, Laird Mackintosh, Vanessa McMahan, Koh Mochizuki, Shua Potter, Dominic Roberts, Nick Sanchez, Q. Smith, Jesse Swimm and Tom Souhrada.

Mary Poppins is based on P.L. Travers’ stories and the 1964 Walt Disney film. The musical features the Academy Award-winning music and lyrics of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, a book by Julian Fellowes, and new songs and additional music and lyrics from George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. The production has been directed by Richard Eyre, with co-direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne. The creative team includes Bob Crowley (scenic and costume design), and Howard Harrison (lighting design), William David Brohn, and music supervision by David Caddick.
