The Grammy-nominated Firesign Theatre will mark the "40th Birthday" of its most famous character creation, the detective Nick Danger, with Forward, Into The Past, to be held at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollwood, on October 14-17.

The character was created in 1969, with the script written first as a pilot for a radio series but then adapted to 1940's microphones and "new" multi-track recording as Side Two of their second LP release for Columbia, "How Can You Be In Two Places At Once, When You're Not Anywhere At All?"

Founded in 1966, Firesign is made up of Phil Austin, Peter Bergman, David Ossman, and Phil Proctor. They received a 2001 Grammy nomination for their album "Bride of Firesign," and their album, "Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers" was selected for the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress, who dubbed them "the Beatles of Comedy."
