Richard Gere to Receive Golden Icon Award at Zurich Film Festival

Hollywood star and stage veteran Richard Gere has been named as this year’s recipient of the Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Icon Award, which will be presented to him on September 23at a festival screening of the financial thriller Arbitrage, in which he stars.

To celebrate this lifetime achievement honor, the festival will also screen a retrospective of Gere’s films during the course of the festival.

Gere received a Theatre World Award in 1980 for Bent, and also appeared on Broadway in Grease, Habeas Corpus, and Soon.

He received a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance in the film version of Chicago and his many other films include An Officer and a Gentleman, American Gigolo, Pretty Woman, and Unfaithful.
