Eli Wallach, Jean-Luc Godard, Francis Ford Coppola, et al. Win AMPAS Governors’ Awards

Stage and screen star Eli Wallach will be one of the artists receiving an honorary Oscar at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ second Governors Awards ceremony, according to a report in Variety. Film historian Kevin Brownlow and director Jean-Luc Godard will also receive honorary Oscars and Francis Ford Coppola will receive the Thalberg Award when the prizes are handed out on November 13 at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles.

The actor earned BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for his performance in Baby Doll. His myriad other films include The Magnificent Seven, The Misfits, Lord Jim, The Godfather, Part II, The Associate, Advice and Consent, and New York, I Love You. He won an Emmy Award for The Poppy Is Also a Flower and received Emmy nominations for his work on Something in Common, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Nurse Jackie, among others.

Wallach won a Tony Award for his performance in the original company of Tennessee Williams’ The Rose Tattoo. Among his many other Broadway credits are Camino Real, Luv, The Waltz of the Toreadors, The Price and Café Crown.
