The Blank Theatre Company has announced its 2010-2011 season, which will celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary. This season’s shows will be presented at two different Hollywood venues: The Blank’s 2nd Stage Theatre, 6500 Santa Monica Boulevard, and the Stella Adler Theatre, 6773 Hollywood Boulevard (at Highland).

The season will open with the Southern California premiere of Edmund White’s Terre Haute (October 2-November 14), directed by Kirsten Sanderson. The work is inspired by the pen pal relationship of famed fiction writer Edmund White and domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh.

Next up, Nicholas Brendon will once again star in David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries (November 19-December 19), directed by Michael Matthews. The solo play is about Sedaris’ experiences as an unemployed writer taking a job as an elf at Macy’s Department Store.

Daniel Henning will direct Marc Blitzstein’s 1937 musical The Cradle Will Rock (February 5-March 20). The show is a scathing satire of greed, corruption and politics in the U.S.A. A fourth production, to run April-May 2011 will be announced at a later date.

In addition, The Blank will host the 19th annual Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival, June 2-26, featuring 12 world premieres chosen by a panel of theater professionals from submissions by teenage playwrights.
