The romantic drama is adapted from Stefan Zweig's novella Journey into the Past. According to the trade publication, it "centers on the wife of an older, wealthy man who falls hopelessly in love with her husband's teacher."

Hall starred in the Bridge Project's productions of The Winter's Tale and The Cherry Orchard. Previous screen credits include Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Frost/Nixon, and The Town.
