Morlan Higgins, Blake Robbins, Armin Shimmerman et al. Set for Broadsword: A Heavy Metal Play

Morlan Higgins, Blake Robbins, and Armin Shimmerman will lead the cast of Black Dahlia Theatre’s West Coast premiere of Marco Ramirez’s Broadsword: A Heavy Metal Play, which will be presented June 15-July 31, with an opening on June 18. Mark St. Amant will direct.

In the play, the former members of the band Broadsword have to put aside 16 years of bad blood in order to uncover the chilling secret behind their lead guitarist’s mysterious disappearance.

The cast will also include Heather Sher, Tim Venable, and Kenny Williams. The design team will include Kurt Boetcher (set), Leigh Allen (lights), Dave Marling (sound), and Raquel Barreto (costumes).

Higgins is well known to Los Angeles audiences for his award-winning work in Athol Fugard’s Exits and Entrances at the Fountain Theatre. Robbins could be seen most recently on ABC’s Flashforward and NBC’s The Office as Jim Halpert’s brother, Tom. Shimmerman is best known for playing the Ferengi bartender Quark in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Principal Snyder in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Kramer’s caddy Stan on Seinfeld.
