The film features a script by Dan Fogelman, which he wrote based on his own experience traveling with his mother. The story follows an inventor who invites his mother on a cross-country trip as he tries to sell his new product while also reuniting her with a lost love.
Hanks appeared on Broadway in Moises Kaufman's 33 Variations. On television, he has appeared on FOX's The Good Guys and AMC's Mad Men, and as previously announced, he will be joining the cast of Showtime's Dexter this season. His film credits include W., Untraceable and Homeland Security.
