Mo’Nique, Lee Daniels to Receive Sheryl Lee Ralph’s First Annual D.I.V.A. Awards

Academy Award nominee Mo’Nique, as well as Precious director Lee Daniels, will be honored with Sheryl Lee Ralph’s first annual D.I.V.A. Awards, to be presented at a ceremony on February 27 at Rockwell in Los Angeles. Ralph will host the event, which will feature entertainment by Grammy Award winner Kelly Price.

In addition to her Oscar nomination for Precious, Mo’Nique has won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the film as well as New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, among others. For his direction of the film, Daniels has also been nominated for BAFTA, Broadcast Film Critics and Directors Guild of America Awards, among others.

Price’s albums include Soul of a Woman, Mirror Mirror, One Family – A Christmas Album, Priceless, and This Is Who I Am.

The ceremony will benefit Ralph’s DIVA Foundation, an organization that focuses on HIV/AIDS awareness, testing, erasing stigma, lowering of the HIV infection rate especially as it pertains to women, girls and young people.
