Aaron Tveit Joins Cast of Les Miserables Movie

Aaron Tveit will play Enjolras in the musical film adaptation of Les Miserables, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Academy Award winner Tom Hooper will direct the film, which will be released December 7, 2012.


The screenplay will be written by playwright William Nicholson, based upon the Victor Hugo book and the stage musical adaptation. Cameron Mackintosh is producing the film, which will be utilizing the musical’s original score from Claude-Michel Schoenberg and Alain Boublil.

As previously reported, the film will also star Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, and Eddie Redmayne as Marius


In addition, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter are reportedly signed to play the Thernardiers; Amanda Seyfried is negotiating for the role of Cosette, and Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine.

Tveit has starred on Broadway in Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can. In addition, he plays Trip van der Bilt on Gossip Girl and has appeared in such films as Ghost Town and Howl.
