Bay Street Theatre has announced its Summer 2009 line-up, which will include fully staged productions of John Van Druten’s Bell, Book, & Candle — which was the inspiration for the TV series Bewitched — to be directed by Tony winner Jack Hofsiss; the American premiere of Moira Buffini’s Dinner (July 7-August 2), a satirical comedy that reminds us that ‘revenge is a dish best served cold’; and the Jim Wise-George Haimsohn-Robin Miller Dames at Sea (August 11-September 6), a tongue-in-cheek valentine to the 1930’s Hollywood musical.

Special engagements will include Grammy nominee Phoebe Snow (May 22 and 23), Broadway’s husband wife duo Marin Mazzie & Jason Danieley (May 24), four-time Grammy nominee Michael Feinstein (June 22), and Tony winner Betty Buckley (July 3 and 4).

The Bay Street Comedy Club will feature the Off-Broadway hit, Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words, as well as comedians Caroline Rhea, Louie Anderson, David Brenner, Jim Breuer, Susie Essman, Mario Cantone, Robert Klein, Janeane Garofalo, and Rob Riggle.

Bay Street will also offer OUR TOWN, a series of chats on Thursday afternoons at 4pm, in which Murphy Davis will speak with some of the many interesting folks — from screenwriters to architects, from book authors to producers — who live and work in the area. Scheduled guests will include Sybil Christopher, Lanford Wilson, Jim McMullen, April Gornick, Ellen Adler, and more.

The Bay Street @ The Parrish series will include Julie Halston in Miss Margarita’s Way and a new work in progress, Motherhood Out Loud, as well as workshops and classes with guitarist G.E. Smith, Betty Buckley, Julie Halston, and more. The theater will also present its family-friendly “Kidstreet” and Rainy Day @ The Bay series of films.
