Olivier Award winner Rupert Goold will direct the world premiere of David Mamet’s new play, The Anarchist in the fall. The production will play a West End venue, with additional details, including casting, to be announced at a later date.
The Anarchist involves a female inmate serving a life sentence who tries to convince a prison governor that she deserves parole.
The play will be produced by Playful Productions, Jeffrey Richards, and Jerry Frankel.
Goold won an Oliver for his direction of Macbeth, with additional credits including Enron, Paradise Lost, and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. He is the artistic director of Headlong Theatre and an associate at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
