Zach Braff will star as Charlie in his play All New People when it begins performances at the West End’s Duke of York Theatre on February 22, according to a report on Deadline.com. Peter Dubois will direct the production, which will play pre-London engagements at the Manchester Opera House, running February 8-11, and the King’s Theatre in Glasgow, running February 14-18.

The play takes place in the dead of winter in the summer vacation getaway of Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where Charlie, heartbroken, just wants some time away from the rest of the world, but finds his solitude is interrupted by a motley parade of misfits who show up and change his plans. Additional casting will be announced in the near future.

Braff made his debut as a playwright with the play’s production at Second Stage Theatre. Among his stage credits are Paul Weitz’s Trust at Second Stage and Twelfth Night and Macbeth for the Public Theater. He may be best known for his portrayal of Dr. John “J.D.” O’Brien on television’s Scrubs and for his work as writer of and performer in the film Garden State.
