Benedict Cumberbatch, Jonny Lee Miller, Sheridan Smith, et al. Win Evening Standard Awards

The winners for this year’s Evening Standard Theatre Awards have been announced, according to reporrts. Dame Edna Everage – aka Barry Humphries — hosted the ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller won Best Actor for their work in Frankenstein, while the award for Best Actress went to Sheridan Smith for Flare Path.

Best Play was given to Richard Bean for two works: The Heretic (seen at Royal Court Theatre) and One Man, Two Guvnors (seen at the National), Matilda the musical was named Best Musical.

Mike Leigh was named Best Director for Grief, and Kyle Soller won the Milton Shulman Award For Outstanding Newcomer.
