Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio to Star in West End Revival of Miller’s A View from the Bridge

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio will play Beatrice in the revival of Arthur Miller’s 1955 play A View from the Bridge, which will begin a run at the West End’s Duke of York’s Theatre on January 24. The production, which will open officially on February 5, will be directed by Lindsay Posner, designed by Christopher Oram, and lit by Peter Mumford.

West End veteran Ken Stott will play Eddie Carbone, a headstrong longshoreman raising Beatrice’s orphaned niece, Catherine. When Eddie’s feelings for Catherine develop from paternal protectiveness to sexual desire, his struggle to contain his emotions leads him on a path of self destruction transforming him from a respected, honorable man to a virtual stranger shamed and broken by his own actions. No other casting has been announced.

A revival of Miller’s 1947 drama All My Sons has just opened on Broadway. His many other plays include Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, After the Fall, The Price and The Man Who Had All the Luck, which was revived earlier this year at the Donmar Warehouse.

Mastrantonio’s many stage and film credits include Man of La Mancha, Grand Hotel, The Perfect Storm, and Consenting Adults.
