Legendary composer Vangelis joined with the cast of the West End stage production of Chariots of Fire to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic torch as the relay passed through the West End on Thursday, July 26.

Vangelis' Academy award-winning theme tune to the stage and film versions of Chariots of Fire welcomed the Olympic torch as it arrived at the Gielgud Theatre -- where the stage production is playing -- and continued down Shaftesbury Avenue, making its final sprint toward Stratford for the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Chariots of Fire is based on the extraordinary true story of Eric Liddell (played by Jack Lowden) and Harold Abrahams (played by James McArdle), and tells the inspirational tale of hope, honour and belief centers on two young track athletes competing at the 1924 Paris Olympic Games.
