Mark Benton to Star in New UK Tour of Hairspray
Mark Benton will star as Edna Turnblad in a new United Kingdom and Ireland tour of the musical Hairspray, according to published reports. The tour will launch in February, 2013 at Manchester’s Lowry Theatre. Additional casting and the creative team will be announced shortly.
Hairspray features a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, with a score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
Benton has been seen on stage in The Railway Children and Comedians, and is best known for his performances on the television programs Early Doors and Northern Lights.
