West End theater shop Dress Circle has announced it will close on August 15, despite a long-running campaign to save it, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com.

The shop, which is located on Monmouth Street in Covent Garden, first opened in the late 1970s and sells a wide selection of cast recordings, sheet music, and memorabilia. It will continue to do business online.

The shop's owner, Murray Allan, told Whatsonstage that he could no longer financially keep the store running, despite funds raised at a gala last August. In addition to the cost of the store's lease, Allan cited a downturn in business because of the Olympics, which is keeping people away from central London.
