Works by Sue Glover, David Greig, Linda Griffiths and More Part of Edinburgh Lyceum’s 2010-2011 Season

The Edinburgh Lyceum has announced its 2010-2011 season, which will open with back-to-back productions of Romeo and Juliet (September 17 – October 16), directed by Tony Cownie, and The Importance of Being Earnest (October 22 – November 20), staged by Mark Thomson. An ensemble cast will be used for both productions, which will share a designer and composer.

Also on the theater’s schedule is Sue Glover’s Marilyn (March 15 – April 2), a new bio-drama about Marilyn Monroe. Jeremy Raison will direct this piece which imagines an encounter between Monroe and French actress Simone Signoret.

The Edinburgh Lyceum will also present Linda Griffiths’ look at five Victorian women, Age of Arousal February 18 – March 12), to be directed by Muriel Romanes; Educating Agnes (April 9 – May 7), Liz Lochhead’s adaptation of Moliere’s School for Wives, directed by Tony Cownie; and a Christmastime offering of The Snow Queen (December 2-31), as well as a revival of Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge (January 14 – February 12), directed by John Dove.

The theater’s season will be rounded out with Dunsinane (May 14 – June 4), David Greig’s sequel to Macbeth. Roxana Silbert will direct the production, which will open at the theater next May in anticipation of a U.K. tour.
