Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play Extends...

Me and My Girl Revival, David Hare Retrospective and More Part of Sheffield Theatre's 2010-2011 Season

The Sheffield Theatre has announced its plans for the coming season, which will include a major retrospective on the work of David Hare, to run February 3 - March 5.

Daniel Evans will direct Hare's Racing Demon (February 10-March 5), the 1990 Olivier Award-winning play that centers on a team of eccentric vicars working in a poor inner city parish. Thea Sharrock will direct Plenty (February 3-26), Hare's investigation of a women who must adjust from living a life of danger in Nazi occupied France to a string of dead-end jobs and destructive relationships when she arrives back in Britain. The Breath of Life, which focuses on two women who are united by their love for the same man, (February 16-26) will be directed by Peter Gill.

The theater's season will open with Hamlet (September 22 -October 23), to be directed by Paul Miller, with John Simm in the title role and Michelle Dockery as Ophelia.

Over the holidays, the theater will offer a revival of the hit musical Me and My Girl (December 2-January 29). Anna Mackmin will direct the production, which will feature choreography by Stephen Mear.

Other productions at the Sheffield will include DC Jackson's exploration of office romance, My Romantic History (September 15 -October 2). Lyndsey Turner will direct this co-production with London's Bush Theatre. Frantic Assembly and the National Theatre of Scotland's tour of Bryony Lavery's Beautiful Burnout (November 3-13), What I Heard About the World (October 13-30), presented by the company Third Angel, and Jilly Murphy's Whatever Next, adapted as a play for young children by Juliet Foster (December 15-January 8).
