Phil Collins is retiring from music, according to FHM Magazine. He has cited health issues — including hearing problems, nerve damage to his hands, and a dislocated vertebra — as among the reasons for ending his career. He intends to devote more time to his two sons, Nicholas and Matthew, by his third wife Orianne Cevey.

Collins, who rose to fame with the group Genesis in the 1970s, has written such hits as “In the Air Tonight,” “Against All Odds,” and “Two Hearts.” He wrote the music for the Disney animated film Tarzan, winning a Golden Globe for “You’ll Be In My Heart,” and composed additional songs for the Broadway stage adaptation of the movie. In addition to his work as singer and songwriter, he has worked as an actor, appearing in such films as Tommy and Hook. Among his many honors is the 2010 Johnny Mercer Award.
