Previously Unreleased Recordings from Steve Barton, Anthony Newley Featured on Two New CDs

Stage Door Records will release two CDs featuring previously unreleased performances by Steve Barton and Anthony Newley on May 10.

The 24-track Barton disc — Encore – The Private Collection — features the late singer performing a wide variety of songs, ranging from “Tea for Two” to “You’ve Got a Friend.” The disc also contains several tracks of Barton singing Broadway standards in German, such as “Ich war bis heut noch nicht verliebt (I’ve Never Been in Love Before)” from Guys and Dolls. In addition, the CD includes such bonuses as a spoken word track, a piano performance by the actor/singer and an interview. The disc has been complied from and restored from many of the performer’s private recordings.

Newley Discovered – The Concept Recordings has also been compiled using private recordings from this singer’s collection. This 21-track disc features songs from three film scores composed by the performer, including Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Can Heironymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness, and Mr. Quilp. The songs on the disc include such standards as “The Candy Man” and “Oompa Loompa.”
