London’s National Theatre Announces New Season

London’s National Theatre has announced additional productions for the 2012-2013 season.


Nicholas Hytner, the company’s artistic director, will helm numerous productions, including Alan Bennett’s People, Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens, starring Simon Russell Beale, and Shakespeare’s Othello with Adrian Lester and Rory Kinnear.

Among the many other scheduled productions are Richard Bean’s adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, helmed by Timothy Sheader; Adrian Noble’s production of Carl Zuckameyer’s The Captain of Kopenick, starring Antony Sher; Enda Walsh’s Misterman, starring Cillian Murphy; Howard Davies’ production of Stephen Beresford’s The Last of the Haussman’s, starring Kinnear, Julie Walters, and Helen McCrory, and Davies’ revival of Maxim Gorky’s Children of the Sun.


Other notable offerings will include Tony Award winner Marianne Elliot’t’s production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time; Austin Pendelton’s production of Lisa D’Amour’s Detroit; Katie Mitchell’s production of Hansel and Gretel; and Nadia Fall’s production of George Bernard Shaw’s The Doctor’s Dilemma.
