James Purefoy and Sheridan Smith are among newly announced cast members who will be joining the previously reported Sienna Miller in Terence Rattigan’s Flare Path, to run March 4 – June 4 at the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket. Trevor Nunn will direct the production, which will have designs by Stephen Brimson Lewis.

The play is set in a hotel on the edge of an airfield in England in 1942, where a young bomber pilot is celebrating a reunion with his actress wife. The arrival of a heartthrob film star and a mission for the pilot in Germany, however, complicate the couple’s time together. The company will also feature Joe Armstrong and Clive Woods. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

Purefoy’s many stage credits include Macbeth, The Man Who Came to Dinner, King Lear<, Hamlet, Present Laughter, Les Enfants du Paradis, and The Relapse. Among his film and television credits are Rome, The Philanthropist, Resident Evil, Vanity Fair, A Knight’s Tale and Solomon Kane, as well as the forthcoming Ironclad and John Carter of Mars.

Smith starred as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde in the West End. Her other theater credits include Into the Woods, Ancient Nights, The People Are Friendly, Little Shop of Horrors, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In addition, she has appeared on such television series as Two Pints of Lager & A Packet of Crisps, The Royle Family, Grown Ups, Love Soup, and Benidorm.
