National Tour of Jason Robert Brown's Bridges of Madison County to Launch in Iowa

The upcoming national tour of Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman's musical The Bridges of Madison County will launch in Iowa, the state where the show is set.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, who helmed the show's Broadway run, the production will kick off at the Des Moines Civic Center beginning Saturday, November 28. It will officially open on Tuesday, December 1. The next stop will be at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre, from December 8-January 16, as previously announced.

The tour will hit more than 15 cities in its first run, including Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston (January 19-31); The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas (February 23-28); Benedum Center in Pittsburgh (March 8-13); Schuster Center in Dayton (March 15-20); Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach (April 26-May 1); Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville (April 19-24); Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis (June 21-26), and The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. (June 28-July 17).

Based on the novel by Robert James Waller, which tells the story of an Iowa farmwife who embarks on a life-changing four-day love affair with a traveling photographer, the production features scenic design by Michael Yeargan, costume design by Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by Jon Weston, movement by Danny Mefford, and Tony-winning orchestrations by Brown, in addition to his Tony-winning score.

Casting for the touring production will be announced in the coming months. Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale led the cast of the Broadway run, which took place January 17-May 18, 2014.
