Tony-nominee Constantine Maroulis will star in the title role of the Alley Theater’s production of the new musical The Toxic Avenger, which features several new songs and revised book. The show will run from January 13-February 12 on The Hubbard Stage. John Rando will direct.

The Toxic Avenger, featuring book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro with music and lyrics by David Bryan, is a zany love story and laugh-out-loud musical that has it all – an unlikely hero, his beautiful girlfriend, a corrupt New Jersey mayor, an onstage band, and two guys who play … well, everyone else … bullies, mobsters, old ladies, and stiletto-wearing back-up singers.

The cast will also include Mara Davi (Sarah), Mitchell Jarvis (White Dude), Nancy Opel (Mayor Babs Belgoody/Ma Ferd/Nun), and Antoine L. Smith (Black Dude).

The show will have choreography by Kelly Devine, music direction by Doug Katsaros, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by David C. Woolard, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Robert Kaplowitz, mask design and prosthetics by Louis Zakarian, fight direction and special effects by Waldo Warshaw/Fusion Special Effects and hair and makeup design by Mark Adam Rampmeyer.
