Geva Theatre Center Announces 40th Anniversary Season

Geva Theatre Center has announced plans for its 40th Anniversary summer, Mainstage, and 2013 spring Nextstage seasons.

Geva’s summer line-up will include Avenue Q (June 28-July 21), by Jeff Whitty, Robert Lopez, and Jeff Marx and The Tribute to Sir Elton John and Billy Joel (July 27-August 11), featuring David James and Joel Mason.

The Wilson Mainstage Season will kick off with a production helmed by Mark Cuddy of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s You Can’t Take it With You (September 11-October 7). Next, Skip Greer will direct Mark St. Germain’s Freud’s Last Session (October 16-November 11). The theater’s holiday season production will be an adaptation by Mark Cuddy of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol (November 23-December 23) with music and lyrics by Gregg Coffin, directed by Mark Cuddy. Scott Schwartz will direct Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey’s Next to Normal (January 8-February 10).

As the mainstage season continues, the theater will present Karen Zacarias’ The Book Club Play (February 19-March 24), directed by Sean Daniels. Indiana Repertory Theatre will co-produce a production of The Whipping Man (April 2-28) by Matthew Lopez, directed by Tim Ocel. The final production of the season will be A Midsummer Night’s Dream (May 8-June 2), directed by Mark Cuddy and Skip Greer.

In the spring of 2013, Geva will present their Fielding Nextstage Season, which will include The Neofuturists of Chicago’s production of 44 Plays for 44 Presidents directed by Sean Daniels; a Method Machine production of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, Part II: Perestroika, directed by David Henderson; Joe Calarco’s Shakespeare’s R and J; a performance by Reenah L. Golden of No Child by Nilaja Sun; Mike Daisey’s The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs; and an Aurora Theatre Production of Bob by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb and directed by Sean Daniels.
