Maria Aitken to Direct Shakespeare Theatre Company’s As You Like It

Tony Award nominee Maria Aitken will direct William Shakespeare’s As You Like It at the Shakespeare Theatre Company, November 17-December 20.

The production will transfer the action of the play from the Forest of Arden to a busy Hollywood sound stage, incorporating a variety of film genres from silent era to color and from Westerns to musical spectaculars. Composer Michael John LaChiusa will provide the score for the production.

The company will feature John Behlmann (Orlando), Francesca Faridany (Rosalind), Floyd King (Touchstone), Andrew Long (Jacques), Miriam Silverman (Celia), Anjali Bhimani (Phoebe), Mark Capri (Duke Senior/Duke Frederick), Barnaby Carpenter (Oliver), Elliot Dash (Charles/William), Aubrey Deeker (Silvius), Beth Glover (Audrey), James Konicek (Amiens), Lawrence Redmond (First Lord), Todd Scofield (Le Beau), Raphael Nash Thompson (Corin), and Ted van Griethuysen (Adam/Sir Oliver Mar-Text).

The cast will also include Meredith Burns, McKennah Edmunds, Julia Ferrara, Catherine LeFrere, Sarah Mollo-Christensen, Charlie Francis Murphy, Adam Navarro, Todd Quick, David Joseph Regelmann, Jon Reynolds, and Patrick Vaill.

The creative team will include Derek McLane (scenic design), Martin Pakledinaz (costume design), Japhy Weideman (lighting design), Martin Desjardins (sound design), Jeff Sugg (projection design), and Daniel Pelzig (choreography).
