Billy Crystal’s 700 Sundays has become the highest-grossing play ever at Washington D.C.’s National Theatre. For the week ending September 13, the production grossed $939,578 in only 7 performances, breaking the National Theatre record of $713,258 previously held by Dame Edna: Back with a Vengeance.

Crystal’s engagement in Washington is the beginning of a six-city American tour for the show, which will also play Philadelphia’s Merriam Theater (September 30-October 11), Dallas’ Winspear Opera House (November 17-22), Palm Beach’s Kravis Center (December 3-6), Miami’s Arsht Opera House (December 9-13), and Atlanta’s Cobb Theater (December 16-20).

Written and performed by Crystal, 700 Sundays features additional content by Alan Zweibel and is directed by Des McAnuff.
