Helen Hayes Award Nominee Jane Pesci-Townsend Dies

Jane Pesci-Townsend, a four-time Helen Hayes Award nominee, has died after a long battle with cancer, according to published reports.

Her many stage credits include The Revenge of Mrs. Foggybottom, Closer Than Ever, Putting It Together, The Pirates of Penzance, and the Kennedy Center’s production of Sweeney Todd, in which she understudied the role of Mrs. Lovett and played some performances during star Christine Baranski’s absences.

She was also a director, whose credits include The Last Five Years, and was a faculty member of The Catholic University of America’s Benjamin T. Rome School of Music and the Signature Theatre’s Summer Music Theatre Workshop.
