Stephanie D’Abruzzo to Star in Kennedy Center’s Knuffle Bunny Musical

Tony nominee Stephanie D’Abruzzo will play Trixie in the Kennedy Center’s production of Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical, to play the Family Theater, May 8-23. Rosemary Newcott will direct, with choreography by Paige Hernandez.

Adapted by six time Emmy Award winning author/illustrator Mo Willems from his Caldecott Honor winning children’s book, the show features music by Grammy Award-winning composer Michael Silversher. It tells the story of toddler Trixie who has a beloved stuffed bunny, which she misplaces while on a trip to the laundromat with her slightly disheveled dad.

The cast will also include Michael John Casey as Dad, Matthew McGloin as a Puppeteer, Gia Mora as a Puppeteer, and Erika Rose as Mom. The production will feature set and puppet design by Kat Conley, costume design by Kate Turner-Walker, lighting design by Jeff Bruckerhoff, and sound design by Ryan Gastelum.

D’Abruzzo was Tony-nominated for her performance in Avenue Q, and her other New York credits include I Love You Because and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Other Story Books. She most recently appeared in the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ production of [title of show].
