Nathan Lane will depart the Broadway production of David Mamet's new play November on Sunday, July 13. The show, directed by Joe Mantello, began previews on December 20 at the Barrymore Theatre, with an official opening on January 17. No replacement has been named.
The show also stars Laurie Metcalf (Clarice Bernstein), Dylan Baker (Archer Brown), Ethan Phillips (Turkey Representative), and Michael Nichols (Dwight Grackle).
Set just days before a major presidential election that incumbent Charles H.P. Smith (Lane) seems destined to lose, November involves civil marriages, gambling casinos, lesbians, American Indians, presidential libraries, questionable pardons, and campaign contributions.
The creative team includes Scott Pask (sets), Laura Bauer (costumes), and Paul Gallo (lighting). Mantello is a two-time Tony Award winner for Assassins and Take Me Out.
