Trumbo Film with Dennehy, Lane, Neeson, et al. to Get 2008 Release

Directed by Peter Askin, the film is based on the play Trumbo, by Christopher Trumbo (Dalton's son), which played Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in 2003. The film features readings of some of Dalton Trumbo's letters, interlaced with period and contemporary interviews and rare video shot by his family and friends. Featured in the film are Joan Allen, Brian Dennehy, Michael Douglas, Paul Giamatti, Nathan Lane, Josh Lucas, Liam Neeson, David Straithairn, and Donald Sutherland.

Trumbo was one of Hollywood's highest paid screenwriters until he was blacklisted in 1947 after standing up to the House Un-American Activities Committee and was thrown into prison as one of the infamous Hollywood Ten. Afterwards, he wrote several scripts under pseudonyms including The Brave One (for which he won an Academy Award under the name Robert Rich), Roman Holiday, and Spartacus, before he was re-instated into the Writers Guild in 1960.
