Grease Contestant Chad Doreck to Join Altar Boyz

Chad Doreck, one of the semi-finalists on the NBC reality series Grease: You're the One That I Want, will take over the role of Matthew in the long-running Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz on September 3. He replaces Matthew Buckner.

A spoof of a Christian boy-band (complete with one Jewish member), the show has music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker and a book by Kevin Del Aguila, based on a concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport. It is directed by Stafford Arima and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. The cast also features Landon Beard, Jay Garcia, Ryan J. Ratliff, and Ryan Strand.

Altar Boyz was named Best Off-Broadway Musical by the Outer Critics Circle and received numerous Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations.
