Zach Grenier, Thomas Sadoski, Nilaja Sun, Ben Vereen, et al. Set for Hartford Stage’s Brand:NEW Reading Series

Casting has been announced for Hartford Stage‘s Brand:NEW reading series.

Ben Vereen, Russell Hornsby, Reg E. Cathey, Sonequa Martin, and Richard Masur will star in Des McAnuff’s staging of Will Power’s Fetch Clay, Make Man, to be offered on November 4 at 7:30pm.

Other plays in the series, which continues through November 8, will be Walter Anderson’s Johnny’s War (November 5, 7:30pm), directed by Michael Wilson; Hana Sharif’s Sprott Cycle (November 6, 11am, 2pm, 4pm), directed by Jeremy B. Cohen; Michael Elyanow’s Robyn Is Happy (November 6, 8pm), Eran Kolirin’s The Band’s Visit (November 7, 3pm), directed by Maxwell Williams; and Quiara Alegria Hudes’ Water by the Spoonful (November 7, 7:30pm).

Among the actors who will appear in those plays are Stephen Barker Turner, Robert Clohessy, Liza Colon-Zayas, Yettta Gottesman, Robert Hogan, Annie Purcell, Jeanine Serrailes, Michele Shay, and Nilaja Sun.

Finally, Zach Grenier, Thomas Sadoski, Paxton Whitehead will star in Michael Kramer’s Divine Rivalry (November 8, 7:30pm), directed by Michael Wilson. As previously reported, the play, which looks at a little-known painting competition that brings Michelangelo, Leonardo DaVinci, and Machiavelli together, will also be part of the theater’s full season, running February 24-March 20.
