Singer Dionne Warwick has been tapped to design the interior of the new Black Ensemble Theater in Chicago, according to a report in The Chicago-Sun Times.

Hired by Jackie Taylor, Warwick along with design partner Bruce Garrick will supervise decoration of the space, including the facility’s lobby and restrooms. Chicago-based architect John Morris designed the building.

Warwick — whose hits include performances of such Burt Bacharach-Hal David songs as “Say a Little Prayer,” “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again,” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” — has had previous design experience with private residences in California as well as several restaurants.

The new Black Ensemble Theater space is slated to open November 18, 2011. According to the Black Ensemble Theater’s website, the new space will enable the group to better accommodate their growing audiences and will enable to them to better facilitate their outreach mission and goals.
